Hammersmith Apollo is one of the largest entertainment venues in London. On Sunday, it received an anonymous call of a bomb threat. This was followed by chaos and mass evacuation.
Darius Eghbali, the Iranian pop star, was supposed to perform at London’s Hammersmith. There was a huge crowd outside, and they were protesting against Supreme Leader Sayyid Ali Hosseini Khamenei.
The 71-year-old Iranian singer, Danish, was forced into exile after the Islamic revolution of Islam. He was an activist against the regime, hence had to face the consequences.
There was an anonymous call received by the Metropolitan police that threatened a bomb drop on Sunday’s concert. The Metropolitan Police stated that they received it somewhere around 8 pm.
After the call, they notified the managers of the venue of the security risk, and it was decided to evacuate the audience. The audience comprised 3,000 members.
A spokesperson said there was a call received at 8:06 pm on the 9th of October, Sunday. The call was anonymous and threatened by a bomb attack on a music venue. The name of the venue was not stated.
However, the officers guessed that the venue the anonymous caller was directed to was the Eventim Apollo located at Queen Caroline Street, W6.
Although nothing indicated that the threats were authentic, and there was no suspicious activity found by the security involved in the event.
However, the officers as well as the event managers did not want to take any risks. Therefore, at 8:21 pm, security decided to evacuate the venue. They mentioned that they could not take any risk especially when it comes to an audience of 3000 people.
There have been various videos circulated on social media where the protestors can be seen gathered outside the venue. They were seen chanting “death to Khamenei,” referring to the Supreme Leader of Iran, Sayyid Ali Hosseini Khamenei.
Various protests across the world flared up after the death of the 22-year-old Mahsa Amini. The woman was arrested by the morality police and brutally beaten for not wearing the hijab properly.
She was left with severe injuries and was hospitalized. However, she could not survive the injuries and passed away on September 16.
However, the Iranian coroner denied the death of Mahsa Amini due to the blows. They said that her death was due to underlying issues.
The reason for the death, as stated by Iran’s Forensic Organisation, was stated to be multiple organ failures due to cerebral hypoxia (lack of oxygen to the brain).
She was arrested on September 13 and kept in custody for three days. The reason for the arrest was that she did not wear the hijab in an appropriate manner.
The lawyer of Mahsa’s family, Saleh Nikbakht, stated that the cause of death was the severe blows she received while in custody. Her father mentioned that were several bruises on her body, and they held the police accountable for her death.
