Students who want to pursue higher education in the UK can apply for the Chevening Scholarships. The applications for the same started on August 2 and will continue until November 1.
Chevening scholarships provide financial support to eligible students who wish to pursue their Master’s degree in the UK. Besides the financial support, students also get new opportunities and exposure to various academic, professional, and cultural experiences.
There is no barrier related to religion or caste in applying for this scholarship. However, there are certain terms and conditions that one must adhere to in order to be eligible for the scholarship.
One of the prime factors which account for the student’s eligibility is the fact that students must be able to clearly explain why a Master’s degree from a university in the UK can be beneficial to them, as well as the contributions they would like to make using their knowledge for their homeland.
Apart from this, students need to show that they have the required skills and the determination to bring about some changes in their communities and society; they can also discuss some strategies for the same in brief.

Chevening Scholarships were initiated in 1983 with a view to providing financial assistance to deserving students who are not just academically good but also have the will to uplift the community and society and bring positive changes in the world.
Until now, more than 50,000 students have been given a chance to study at UK universities through Chevening Scholarships. For the academic year 2023/2024, there are 1,500 scholarships available.
The development of the Chevening program proves that the UK is focused and dedicated to development around the world, and through this, they are opening doors for the students who have the potential to bring about changes and can become caring leaders.
Talking specifically about Venezuela, until now, 450 scholarships have been given to the students applying from there. A total of 9 students were selected for this scholarship in the academic year 2022/2023. These students belonged to diverse fields such as social development, leadership, architecture, innovation, microbiology, and women’s health.
Alex Ellis, British Commissioner to India, stated – ‘Chevening offers people an unparalleled opportunity to experience the best of the UK, with full financial support. I’m delighted that we have been able to achieve one of our most diverse cohorts this year with the amazing support from our partners. I encourage even more people from across India to apply for a Chevening Scholarship and Fellowships.”
