Last week the UK Health Security Agency announced that the rising temperatures in the country could be life-threatening. Unfortunately, there is still no relief from the deadly heatwave, and the Met Office has issued a red extreme heat warning for the first two days this week.
On Monday, the temperature is expected to reach 42° C, higher than some of the hottest places on the planet. Moreover, the officials have also stated that it will continue to be hot even on Tuesday. The people will only be able to witness some ease on Wednesday.
While the government has issued school guidelines, some institutions have decided to remain shut. Additionally, rails and other public transportation departments have limited their services for the general public and have urged them to avoid traveling.
Furthermore, London North Eastern Railway has announced that the train services will not operate between London Kings Cross, Southern York, and Leeds on 19 July 2022.
After the UKHSA declared the heatwave a national emergency, the health department geared up its work by increasing the overall ambulance capacity. Currently, the London Ambulance Service is expected to receive 8,000 calls on Monday and Tuesday pertaining to the hot temperature.
