Amazon, the largest e-commerce company in the world, is planning to create more than 4,000 jobs in the UK. These jobs will be permanent and will add to the total count of Amazon employees in the country.
Besides, it has also been revealed these jobs will revolve around technical work in Edinburgh and Cambridge and warehouse work in London.
This isn’t the first time Amazon has planned to spread its roots in the country. In fact, it created 2,500 jobs in the United Kingdom during the Covid-19 pandemic when the e-commerce business saw a boom.
Even though the company has already been the subject of criticism in the United Kingdom due to its harsh working conditions, the authorities have stated that this move will enlist it into the country’s top 10 private sector employers.
At present, there has been a notable increase in the number of British businesses on the platform. It further contributes to supporting 250,000 jobs in the country. Moreover, Amazon has already invested billions of pounds in helping it stand out as the biggest job creator in the UK.
The company has two warehouses in Bolton and Swansea, which it proudly refers to as fulfillment centers. Besides, it is also planning to build a warehouse in West Yorkshire.
