A loud crash suddenly interrupted the second televised debate between Sunak and Truss. It was being broadcasted on News UK-owned TalkTV.
Liz, who was on camera then, was visibly shaken as she covered her mouth with both hands. Seconds after the crash, Liz stepped down from the podium, and the debate halted.
TalkTV later confirmed that Kate McCann fainted due to a medical issue, prompting them to stop the debate mid-way.
Before this incident, Kate, the channel’s political editor, was seen raising questions related to tax, National Health Security, and high living costs.
Moreover, when she passed out, she was ready to begin another section and hear what the candidates had to say about the United Kingdom’s support for Ukraine.
After the interruption, Kate was rushed to get immediate medical care. However, the channel did not continue the debate and also apologized to its viewers and listeners.
Upon hearing that Kate McCann was doing fine, Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss took to Twitter and expressed their relief. Besides, the candidates also added that they could not wait for Kate to ask them fierce questions again.
Good news that you're already recovering @KateEMcCann.
It was a great debate and I look forward to getting grilled by you again shortly! https://t.co/ptogMJ3pt5

Previously, Kate was supposed to host the show with Harry Cole. However, just before the debate, it was announced that he had contracted Covid-19.
