Recently, it has come out that Everton FC has signed a multi-year deal with the online casino Stake.
The stake is an Australian cryptocurrency casino whose past deals include ones made with superstars such as the pop icon Drake.
It is not the first time that the British football club has been interested in the crypto market. Interestingly, Everton FC created the $EFC Fan Token in a partnership with Socios.com earlier this year. The digital token used the digital currency Chiliz and was ranked 1606 when released.
Ultimately, the CEO of Everton FC is thrilled with the deal and called it the biggest partnership in the club’s history. The head of acquisition for Stake.com, Akhil Sarin, remarked that they are incredibly proud to have partnered with Everton FC as it is a club that is steeped in history and tradition.
The partnership celebrated on both ends, has yet to declare the sponsorship amount as they go forward with their deal. However, historically, Stake.com is not a casino that scrimps on its deals. In 2022, when Drake became an official partner of the site, they came together for a $1 million dollar giveaway.
Crypto betting is not legal in some jurisdictions
Though Stake is in partnership with a British football team, it should be remembered that the site is illegal in the UK. In France as well, sites like stake have no place. This is because Crypto casinos are not legal everywhere.
Stake continues to run in Australia, reportedly due to the lack of specific legislation banning such platforms. But since cryptocurrency itself is seen as a gray area legislatively, casinos using crypto become problematic for governments.
Stake’s sports presence has expanded
Stake, the Crypto casino has always been geared toward sports partnerships. With the latest Everton deal, they continue to foray into sports to expand their territory. In April of this year, Stake.com became UFC’s partner. UFC is the Ultimate fighting championship, an American MMA promotional company that is known for its events and fights worldwide. Stake became the first partner for UFC in Latin America and Asia.
Nielsen’s expert forecast points to crypto-based sports sponsorships reaching a whopping $5 billion by 2026. They say that the data show a 778% growth compared to 2021.
