The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, faced extreme backlash as two top ministers resigned within ten minutes of each other. It has led to several questions regarding Boris’ leadership and has also raised eyebrows regarding his future as a PM.
It comes after Boris admitted that he was aware of Chris Pincher’s reputation while appointing him as Deputy Chief Whip. According to Firstpost, Johnson wanted to come out clean by clearing the air regarding the whole Pincher controversy.
However, after the incident, Boris lost his credibility as a leader and was also accused of taking the matter lightly.
Coming back to the two ministers who resigned, one is Health Minister Sajid Javed and the other is Finance Minister Rishi Sunak.
In their resignation letters, Sajid and Rishi stated that they have lost their faith in the Prime Minister’s governance capabilities. Furthermore, they also criticized Johnson’s inability to adhere to rules and regulations.
Right after the resignation, new ministers were appointed. While Steve Barclay has taken up the position of Sajid Javed, Nadhim Zahawi has been appointed as the new Finance Minister.
Over the past few weeks, several ministers have resigned from their positions stating that Boris is misusing his position. This has shaken the UK government to a whole new extent and there is no way for Boris to make amends in the coming days.
