Who is Teresa Fidalgo?
Teresa Fidalgo was a young girl from Sentra, Portugal, believed to have died in a road accident in 1983. In 2013, decades after her death, Teresa’s ghost was captured on a video that went viral.
The video spread like wildfire and created panic amongst the people of Sentra, who refrained from traveling from the same route where the accident took place. Additionally, a message started making rounds on social media, which caused a lot of confusion for those receiving it.
We shall talk about this message later in the blog; first, let’s check more regarding Teresa Fidalgo’s story.
Teresa Fidalgo Full Story: What Happens in the Video?
In the video that went viral all over the world, three friends can be seen driving through a deserted road. It seems like they have lost their way. While the woman in the front seat, Tania, is visibly upset, the man recording the whole incident, David Rebordão, is trying to make her laugh with his silly jokes.
There is another person in the video, Tiago, who is driving the car. He asks David to turn off the camera a couple of times, but David refuses to do so. A few minutes into the video, a woman appears on the road; she asks them for a lift.
Tania, the woman in the front seat, hesitates but gives in when Tiago decides to stop the car. As the hitchhiker enters the car, David asks her if she is okay, but she doesn’t respond. Tania asks David to stop filming the girl, but he does not stop.
After that, he keeps on repeating his question and even asks for her name. She says that her name is Teresa. After a while, she lifts her finger and points toward the road asking the trio if they can see a particular spot.
David pans his camera towards the road, and that’s when Teresa reveals that she met with an accident and died there. In the next second, David shifts his camera towards Teresa, and her face is covered with blood.
Next up, we can hear a loud bang which depicts that the car has met with an accident. The camera falls flat, and that’s when the video ends.
Teresa Fidalgo WhatsApp Message
Social media has the power to connect people. However, there are certain times when such platforms are used to spread fake news. This is exactly what happened when Teresa Fidalgo’s message started circulating on Facebook and WhatsApp.
The message said that it was from Teresa Fidalgo, who died in a car accident in 1983. If it is not forwarded to twenty more people, the ghost of Teresa will sleep next to the person reading it. Moreso, if somebody ignores it, his/her mother will die within twenty days.
People receiving the message started forwarding it frantically to save themselves from this cursed soul. However, no one really did in-depth research to check if the story was real or fake.
Well, it would be completely obnoxious to believe that a ghost would try to kill people if its story is not being forwarded on social media. And yet we are discussing the same thing years later – thanks to people who believe in such stories!
Who is David Rebordão?
If you search Teresa Fidalgo on YouTube, you will see a video posted by David Rebordão. Do you remember the name? Well, it is the same person who happened to record the viral video.
Additionally, you will see two messages; one at the beginning and the other at the end. While the former says that the video was recorded by David in 2003, the latter informs that Tania and Tiago died in the accident.
So, who is David Rebordão, and what exactly happened that night?
Well, Rebordão is a Portugal director and producer. He made this short film by the name of A CURVA, which featured three people, Tania, Tiago, and David himself. The film is based on the legend of Teresa Fidalgo and is scripted.
Even after explaining that A CURVA was shot when David and his two friends were shooting for their film named “Virus,” people started circulating it and spreading rumors. The short film’s popularity skyrocketed but completely blew out of proportion scaring several people all over the world.
Teresa Fidalgo Ghost Strikes Again
However, it did not end here. After gaining massive popularity due to Teresa Fidalgo’s story, David shot another short film by the name of Teresa Fidalgo Ghost Strikes Again. This time around, the director preferred to stay behind the camera.
The video begins with four friends walking in a village looking for a bar. While walking, they start talking about spirits. This is when one of the friends, Xaninha, snaps at the person recording the video, Paulo, and tells him to respect the dead.
Paulo pans the camera towards the other side and notices a silhouette of a girl. He turns toward his friends and says that he saw something; he seems frightened. However, his friends don’t believe him, and he starts walking ahead of them.
He sees the spirit again and calls out to his friends when suddenly it stands right in front of the camera. Paulo starts running and spots the ghost following him. It catches up to him, and suddenly Paulo falls to the ground.
At the end of the video, a message appears stating that Paulo Rodrigues died in 2008 under mysterious circumstances. Since the police couldn’t find the real cause of his death, the woman, who happened to be Paulo’s wife, was forced to circulate the video.
This video was also a short film by David Rebordão. However, it did not gain as much fame as A CURVA.
What to Do If You Get This Viral Message?
People give in to hoaxes and fake news without understanding their back story. It wouldn’t be strange if you saw Teresa Fidalgo’s message on social media since it has been circulating for years.
However, the best you can do is educate people and tell them to ignore such forwarded messages.
Teresa Fidalgo Real or Fake: Final Verdict
Some years back, the story of a young girl dying in a car crash in Portugal came into the limelight. While the case closed soon after, a name started gaining people’s attention – Teresa Fidalgo. Additionally, a message started circulating claiming that Teresa Fidalgo’s ghost would bring bad luck to those who do not forward it.
Not only that, but a video that claimed to have caught Teresa Fidalgo’s ghost also got viral. However, it was soon clarified that the video is a short film by a Portugal director, David Rebordão.
With around 18 million views on YouTube, it is one of the most-watched videos by Rebordão. However, there is no relation between the fake news being circulated on social media and this video.
Therefore, it is safe to say that Teresa Fidalgo’s story is completely fake and is nothing but a work of fiction.
